Of course, I picked up this booklet at the County Park gift shop, hoping that it had the secret to deterring squirrels from ravaging my garden and bird feeders. And, of course, if the author knows the fail safe approach to my problem, he's saving it for the sequel.

Mr. Youth does make a valiant effort to offer a few proposals to fight the plague of squirrels raging in many suburban gardens--baffels, barbed wire, and chemicals, for example--, but mainly he provides a short few paragraphs on the most common squirrels in North America, some good photos of each specimen, and a range map for each.

A Bird Watcher's Digest publication, this booklet provides the basics on yard squirrels, but the gardener might do better just googling for squirrel ID and deterrence information and save $5.
