The new foliage is silvery-fuzzy but later turns glossy green, but the cream-coloured indumentum remains on the underside of the leaf. The flower buds are medium pink but open to pale pink then age to white. Their flowers are a bit smaller than many of the large-leaved rhododendrons. It is a super hardy plant, tolerating to zone 4b.
