This may impart a silvery look to the leaves, especially when they first unfurl in spring. Most produce a small rosette of low leaves and slender stems topped by a cluster of pink to lilac flowers on 2-6" stems. They inhabit marshy meadows, coasts or stream sides. P. farinosa itself grows to 6" and produces a round head of lilac-pink flowers. This species is native throughout northern Europe and Asia. It requires at least a consistently moist soil, tolerating even wet soils. Full sun to light shade is the norm for the farinosae primula group.
