This is surprisingly a not well known plant, eve though it´s constantly present on tropical gardens. A creeping species of the Indigo ge...Read Morenus (the plant that produces the blue colourant, formerly used to colour jeans), it self sows freely, grows fast, and can even become invasive, but is also a great ground cover.
The stem grows horizontally, but can reach up to 20cm high. It has pinate leaves, with 5 pairs of leaflets each, dark green on the upper page and pale green on the lower. From the leaf axil, there comes an upright floral spike that can reach up to 15 centimeters tall, bearing lots of small red, or reddish-pink flowers that will keep showing up all the year.
It requires high temperatures, fertile soil, regular watering and full sun.
The foliage is beautiful, and the flowers are cute. If you need a fast groundcover and doesn´t want a monotonous and colorless grass, this is the plant.
