Today I found six clumps growing wild in my yard! I think the failure of the nursery plants was due to climate shock ( purchased from a Minnesota company and planted in SC). The wild plants have paler leaves and slightly smaller flowers and they are growing in compacted clay soil. I'm considering clearing the soil around the clumps and adding some good soil/ fertilizing the clumps. Think I should?

This plant is perfect as a ground cover, use in clumps around ponds. Also great for mixed water-plant baskets.
I picked up a pot of this plant at our garden show, and can't wait to get it in my bog filter this spring.
