Inspired by a description of “Red Cranberry” in a 1700s gardening encyclopedia, after an 11-year search Withee obtained it from a Mr. Taylor of Steep Falls, ME. The plump round maroon seeds look just like Thanksgiving cranberries, unlike the bush cranberry types which are usually oval and speckled. True Cranberry is one of our oldest varieties, probably sown by Native Americans. A moderate climber to 6', Cranberry is unfazed by short cool growing seasons." (95 days)
