They bloomed all summer and fall. When we started getting light frosts, I dug all four and put them in one largish pot (pretty crowded), cut them back, and put the pot in a coldframe. They immediately threw out flower stems and kept blooming. Last week (November 14) after several hard frosts and some snowfall, I finally brought them inside. My sunniest window is right above a heater, so they get constant dry heat, which most things hate. They don't care. The only time 'Picasso' has stopped blooming since June was for about ten days after I cut them back. They're covered with flowers now, with loads of buds coming. This is a winner!

It's bright green leaves have 5 sharp lobes, the shape reminiscent of ivy leaves, and are up to 3" across. The flowers of the original wild form are pale pink and have quite narrow petals, appearing mainly in spring and summer. This species is the chief ancestor of the Ivy-leafed hybrids.
ZONES: 9-11
CULTIVATION:
These frost-tender plants are often treated like annuals for summer bedding in colder climates. In warmer climates with long hours of daylight they flower almost all the time, although they do not do well in extreme heat and humidity. Plant in pots or beds. The site should be sunny with light, well-drained, neutral soil. If grown in pots, fertilize regularly and cull dead heads. Avoid over-watering; Zonals in particular rot at the base if soil remians wet, although stems re-root higher up (But weaker plants result). Propagate from softwood cuttings from spring to fall.
