I/m pretty sure, after conferring with a peony expert, that this is what I have, however I still have a few doubts. This is listed in th...Read Moree US as a mid season peony with "8 cm" blooms. Mine was the first peony to bloom ( along with early season iris) in the NC Piedmont, and the blooms are HUGE! At least 6-7 inches wide. And I have often wondered at the limitations of most posted plant photos here- always taken too close up to the bloom, so you can't see the size of the shrub / flowers in relation to their environs. Most photos of peonies are taken from the top of the bloom so you can't see the sides or coloration of the outer petals. Mine has a broad white "streak" on the under sides of the outer petals, so when the wind blows you get flashes of silvery white . It is also listed as fragrant but I don't think mine has one. I'm going out to sniff......no. No fragrance. I posted photos of the one I have, Maybe its not DB.? But mine is gorgeous. If someone out there believes this is a different variety than Dancing Butterfly, kindly post your suggestion. I would dearly love to know.
