  A note from tdogmom:
"Hi, I am a Kindergarten teacher although truly I am a mathematics educator who has chosen to make a few changes career-wise and now teaches Kindergarten! :) I am a butterfly enthusiast and have been totally emersed in raising these lovely creatures for a couple of years now. My passion began when my little Shih Tzu was following a Gulf Fritillary around our backyard and I realized that the butterfly was laying eggs on my Passiflora plant. Woo-hoo! That was it for me…Now I not only have a Butterfly Sanctuary in my backyard but have a Butterfly Garden at school and am even a Beckman Science trainer for the 2nd grade Butterfly unit! I raise a number of different butterflies in my downstairs bathroom aka Butterfly Nursery (Anise Swallowtails, Giant Swallowtails, Mourning Cloaks, Monarchs, Gulf Fritillaries, Queens, and whatever else I can find). I have made lots of friends around the U.S. thanks to this fabulous hobby. I have also learned so much about flowers, trees, and gardening in general. It is a wonderful hobby to have. I share it with my students at school who have also become little butterfly scientists (I teach them the 2nd grade butterfly unit since science isn't taught as much as it used to be and not only am I into math but I am into science as well). During the winter, Tifanny aka tdog and I go to breakfast at the Park Bench Cafe (check out the website) and then visit the Monarchs' overwintering site in Huntington Beach, California. T loves butterfliese and she is, afterall, the one who got me hooked!"
