"hi there - i have lived in the high elevation desert for about 5 years, but am still struggling with adapting to gardening here and hope to learn a lot from a site like this - i already have in fact, which is why i joined.
my goal is eventually to get to the point where i grow enough fruit and vegetables to not have to buy anything from the grocery store, or at least enough to get through every winter. my gardening interests are primarily in self-sufficiency (fruit and vegetables), and medicinal and magical herbalism.
my husband is a talented home repair-renovator available for hire with a focus on alternative energy sources so we are trying to incorporate that into our gardening strategy as well. other than that, i am professionally involved in public archaeology and hands-on education programs, so my love of dirt extends well beyond the confines of the garden.
