"Zone 6b/7a on a Southeast Slope at 990ft in Smoky Mts.
Slightly acid reddish Clay Loam around house with some pure Clay and half a dozen whitish flaky rock/yellow rock outcroppings near barn. Lots of rain, damp or hazy most mornings. Temperature drops 10-30 degrees F nights.
About 1/2 yard/pasture and rest wooded-30 years of
regrowth from tobacco farming-hickories/black walnuts, tulip poplar, pine, etc. and understory of dogwoods, redbuds, sassafrass, etc. goldenseal, yellow trilliums, wildflowers, etc. Horses that produce manure in exchange for lots of hay and sweet feed.
