A note from IndianaGardener: |
" I've been gardening for about 12 years. What got me started was my first attempt at bonsai. Like so many I fell into the trap of buying one of those pseudo-bonsai with glued-on rocks. It's soon ill health gave me the idea to look for anything on bonsai at our local library. I was disappointed to find that it wasn't true bonsai, but relieved that I'd not killed an actual bonsai. The online plant forums reassured me that it wasn't my fault. I'd simply fallen prey to assembly-line bonsai as so many had before me.
I next set my gardening sights on real bonsai, then koi, and finally bamboo. I now have 29 kinds of bamboo. Sorry, most aren't able to be divided yet. What does one do with so much bamboo? Well, bamboo isn't just bamboo. It comes in many sizes, growth patterns, light requirements, colors, variegation patterns, etc. I'm making a 3 1/2 acre bamboo garden. I also like any unusual plants too. I'm really bad with house plants. So I stick mainly with outdoor plants. My being terrible with house plants is mostly due to our dry winter wood heat I think.
My other hobbies include our pets and power kiting. Not to be confused with powered parachutes and the like. Though, I would love to do that to.
Have a look at my trade list here if you'd like. If you want to trade, drop me a line." |

"Phyllostachys bissetii covered lightly with snow. As you can see, it's evergreen. It's about 6 yrs. old and 12 ft. tall. It's not really invasive here." |
