The story goes that the lily originally grew in the gardens of Peter the Great (Russian Czar) and that a few of the bulbs were lifted by his gardener who fled the country during the Russian revolution. I don't know if the story is true, but is indeed a true family heirloom. The lily blooms relatively late in the season, usually about mid August, although in USA it blooms for me in end of July. It is very fragrant. In shape, the bloom remind me of N.Jetfire (e.g. as if the bloom was put in front of a fan). The bloom also have a nice ruffled look to it (like a flag in the wind).
My family has had this lily for more than 70 years. It flowers after asiatics, with the orientals.
