The tree is umbrella shape and is very fast grwoing. In mild areas this tree does not shed its leaves in winter. The flowers appear in spring and are slightly fragrant. Each flower is about 3/4" wide with white petals and a very conspicuous tuft of stamens. As many as 20 fruits can be produced on each raceme. The fruits ripened here in the UAE in April. The fruits are 1/2 inch wide and are a dark maroon in color. The fruits taste much like wild cherries. The trees will produce fruits 2-3 years after planting.
It took down to 16F with leaf damage but no limb damage at all here in San Marcos, TX.
