There are short hairs on the leaf surface that give it an iridescent sheen like crushed velvet.
In the 2012-2014 Heuchera performance evaluations at the Mt. Cuba Center, this cultivar was listed as one of the top 10 (out of 83).
The leaves are evergreen here (Z6a) and form a mound 12" high by 18" wide.
The flower scapes at 30" are too tall for the size of the plant and topple without support. They are produced all through the summer, which means they need to be cut down repeatedly. Still, I think this plant is worth the extra work.
This has the heat tolerance of its H. villosa parentage. Soil should be well drained with consistent moisture. Performance is best with some protection from afternoon sun.
Like most coralbells, clumps should be divided every few years and stems reset with the growing tips just above the surface for best long-term health.

The leaves ar...Read Moree slighltly textured, not as much as a "marmalade" but similar, and the shade of black-purple is different from most 'purple' heucheras I have seen. The metalic frosting on the surface of the leaves really shows.

In winter the foliage turns dark bluish-violet. The flowers are like pink seed pearls; plants bloom late spring to late summer.
