Podicipediformes
Western Grebe
Podicipediformes are also called grebes. There are 22 species worldwide, with the exception of Antarctica, and an additional two species are now extinct. They inhabit slow-moving bodies of water, freshwater lakes, and ponds. During mating season, podicioerdiformes birds choose one partner and are monogamaous, traveling inland to mate and lay eggs.
