Just emerged from her cocoon, this female only has 2 weeks to live during which she will mate and lay eggs.

A male cecropia just eclosed from right side of his cocoon and is starting to pump fluid into his wings. I found this cocoon on a spicebush in my yard and wintered it over in the 'cathouse'. 6-16-04
