First time I saw one

Very excited when I saw it!

A female Luna moth resting under a Canna leaf one day in July. Both male and female have feathery antennae but the male's is much fuller.

The cocoon of a Luna moth found attached to a pot that was burried in leaf litter near my front porch, early June.

So shocked to see such a beautiful creature. Someone had to identify it. Pecan trees are everywhere. This 2 years ago and have not seen again.

I found this moth on my porch last night and it is still there. I think it is hurt thought. It looks like its missing a tail.

saw this in trermont, pa. posted it on facebook and a friend identified it as a luna moth. never saw one before!

These are 1 day old luna caterpillars hatched in my classroom.

Found on a light pole in parking lot. Has been present excess of 24hrs.

this photo was taken in Mansfield Cntr. CT. on 6/30/10 around 12:30 am. I see them every year but never more then 1 at a time...this was a real treat!

I know the date says 3/30/2007 but this pic was took on the 8/1/2012 This moth was found in my house on an eraly morning.

I live in Charlotte, NC and found this moth hanging onto the front column of my house. He hung on for three days and I was getting worried: Would he never fly away? Would he die hanging on to my front porch? Last night I did not turn on the porch light and this morning he was gone. I am grateful that he has found his way!

Got it this time, Was watching Monday Night Football and noticed this huge moth fluttering on my window. 10:30 pm est, Cataula, GA, just north of Columbus, GA.

This moth flew into my house. I caught it in a jar and set it free outside.

Found her midday down by the beach at Winans Lake in Hamburg, MI. She had crazy powerful legs as I had to move her to a bush due to foot traffic nearby. Go big bugs!

Found this Luna Moth today in Mt.Plymouth Fl

Saw this on the floor of a park building in East Moline, IL. I thought it was fake at first. I had to look it up to find out what it was.

We found this tonight on our front porch. So beautiful and didnt even realize they were so rare until coming to this site. Never seen one before and very excited to have gotten the chance.
