Haplotaxida
Earthworms
Earthworms are a unique creature family. They have no eyes or ears, but can tell when another earthworm is close by. They are beneficial, as they fertilize soil and feed many other creatures. Earthworms are also hermaphrodites, meaning they have both sexual organs. To mate, they tunnel around until they ?bump? into another worm. Afterwards, both worms are ready to reproduce. They can reproduce up to 80 times in one year. The babies are born into a cocoon that can hold anywhere from one to 20 eggs that will hatch when the temperature and moisture is right.
