Musa Species Musa basjoo Excellent and hardy here in NE Oklahoma. I propagate by separating pups from the main clump, preferably, in the spring. This one may not make its first winter, if conditions are not moderate, but after that, I've never seen one die from the cold, and ours has seen brief periods of cold as low as -16 F. This is a heavy feeder. I have seen them peter out and die, due to lack of food. For them to prosper, I dump a bucket of chicken manure on each clump, in late November or December. They seem to love this, reaching for the sky each summer. | Plants, Roots, Tubers and Bulbs | (PlantFiles) |
