Hibiscus Species
Hibiscus moscheutos

Large white and light pink flowers with maroon eyes that grow in spring, bloom in summer and dies back as the weather cools. Cut down to near the roots and it will come back year after year. One of the hassle-free elements in my garden here in California, although this plant is known to withstand really cold climates.

Tomato
Lycopersicon lycopersicum

Large yellow-green fruit with a bottom and core turning pinkish red as it ripens. When sliced, fruit is pinkish at core, turning yellowish and then yelow green and graduates to green. Weight of fruit I harvested averaged at 1.4 lbs. each. Very tasty--sweet but still has that pleasantly meaty tomato flavor. Plant itself grows to seven feet tall. One caveat: seller I bought the seedling from might have been careless labeling the plant, as it is not all green. Still, it's an intriguing addition to my heirloom tomato collection and I will plant again next year.

Tomato
Lycopersicon lycopersicum

Huge fruit that look like chili peppers on steroids, averaging about 6 inches in length. Ripens to a very rich red and is very fleshy. Very few seeds per fruit (unlike my other seeds, I had to ration ten seeds per packet so as to share with more gardeners). Plant itself looked scrawny and anemic when growing but surprised me with the largest crop of all my large-fruiting tomato plants. Plant is about 7 feet tall, very Roma-like habit and fruit, but with an interesting, delightfully 'devilish' character.

Lycopersicon
Lycopersicon lycopersicum

Can grow into a large plant over eight feet tall. Plant is very prolific, bearing many 1 1/2 inch to 2-inch bright lemon yellow-colored fruit. Very cute tomatoes that are excellent in salads. Flavor is mildly tart.
