I only wish i planted it where it can reach it full nature size...... it getting 5' x 5' and it has grown superfast. i will have to relocate it so it will have a better place to be noticed. Rosa china rose Old antique rose that makes modern roses not worth the effort to maintain.I have had this rose for 7 years. Very tough rose for any location semi shady or full sun. This rose never has any issues with pest of any kind , never gets disease of any kind either. What more can you ask for a rose that has it all. | Gallica Rose Rosa gallica / china hybrid i purchased this rose from vintage gardens ca. and was not sure what to expect from a rose that normally doesnt grow in texas. i love old roses and had to give it a try. it has been a slow grower but has given me 1 1/2' to 2' intense reddish pink roses that are semi spicy sweet,normal for gallicas i've read... and has grown to about 2 ft in 4 years. it can handle our heat but the fist summer its leaves got burned off with the sun. like completely defoliated. i was concerned but told myself it makes it then its a keeper. it has not done this again so maybe it needed to adjust to our climate? its still going strong. just wish it was bigger and fuller bush.its blooms make up for its shortcomings. | 'Ruth' | Plants | (PlantFiles) |
