This is a list of plants I have to sell or trade. You will have to drive over here, NW IL, to buy or trade. I DON'T SHIP PLANTS. Thanks.

I love plants that work hard putting on a show in my sunny NW IL garden, zone 5a.
Plants that don't bloom a long time or that are ugly most of the year have been removed in favor of star performers. I don't keep plants that have thorns, are terrible thugs, or badly eaten by Japanese beetles. I don't keep plants that need to be sprayed, smell bad, or can't take our wind & hail storms. If a plant is prone to runner sideways, or fill a space quickly I tell you. This may be a virtue or a problem depending on your needs. Most of these plants get no extra water other than the 40 inches rain God blesses us with every year. You will need to water them until they are established, of course.

Plants that grow quickly I can trade a gallon pot size or more. Plants that don't might only be a 2 inch pot size.

More, yes more, ( evil laugh) cool garden pics.

Celmisia Species
aster

This is my huge aster. Huge! 4 ft wide.

Plants, Cuttings
(PlantFiles)
Calamagrostis
Calamagrostis acutiflora
'Overdam' Plants
(PlantFiles)
Calendula
Calendula suffruticosa subsp. maritima

note- I don't have this kind. Just plain calendula in yellow- orange. It is a reseeding annual, which means like a perennial you just plant it once!....and the calendula reblooms from it's own seeds the next year. Everybody asks what this is so must not be that common around here.
'Summerlovers Skyfire Yellow' Plants
(PlantFiles)
Campanula Species
Campanula glomerata
Plants
(PlantFiles)
Canna Lily
Canna x generalis

lovely even not in bloom. Blooms Aug 21 here. A garden must! store rhizome indoors for winter in cold climates. It grows more rhizomes which is good as I lose 30% during winter storage.
'Tropicanna' Roots, Tubers and Bulbs Image
(cheerpeople)
Cerastium Species
Cerastium tomentosum

spreads sideways in time. a tough plant that needs no care. One of the first things to show off in the spring. Gray foliage is attractive. Takes drought too. My pic. Looks great tumbling down these rocks.

Seed trade requests must be placed before I cut these down- I don't just collect these for the heck of it.
Seeds, Plants
(PlantFiles)
Consolida Species
Consolida regalis

this is a reseeding annual. Reseeding makes it easy like a perennial as it blooms every year without any more seed planting on your part. It just plants itself.
Seeds, Plants
(PlantFiles)
Convallaria Species
Convallaria majuscula

I also have white flowers. Pink flowers are smaller. Lily of the valley prefer shade and runner sideways popping up next year in a new place. The white ones have fragrance.

self sows and those will bloom the same summer. 50 days of blooms starting mid june.
short variety. easy. my pic
'Early Sunrise' Seeds, Plants
(PlantFiles)
Coreopsis Species
Coreopsis tinctoria

self sows reliably which is good since it's an annual. I like this one even more than 'early sun' as it doesn't have to be deadheaded to look nice and the leaves are smaller. easy.
Seeds, Plants
(PlantFiles)
Cyperus Species
Cyperus papyrus

Houseplant for winter in cold climates. Very impressive size. Also did fine in garden that was a bit damp but not a pond. Purchased infested with scale but mine have been free of it over a year now with a significant investment of my time. Since I paid full price in more ways than one, a trade to you will be full price too.

18 inches tall or so. It seems these don't transplant as mature plants for me. I advise getting a smaller one that is not in bloom yet.

Plants, Roots, Tubers and Bulbs
(PlantFiles)
Dianthus
Dianthus gratianopolitanus

i don't know the exact name but it's fragrant and looks like this and is very easy. Blooms in May for weeks. Can also be grown from cuttings. Grey groundcover-like foliage is nice to cover edge of concrete around my porch. This is a tough spot to grow anything. Drought tolerant. Will fill space if you want more but I cut it back after it blooms
'Mountain Mist' Plants, Roots, Tubers and Bulbs Image
(cheerpeople)

'summer nights' Plants, Roots, Tubers and Bulbs

Daylily
Hemerocallis

'Thunder Patch' Plants, Roots, Tubers and Bulbs
(PlantFiles)
Species Daylily
Hemerocallis fulva

This pic does not do it justice.tall, easy, naturalized to ditches here where it does fine without mowing or any care. We burn our ditches every year and this survives. Will spread via underground rhizomes and make a clump quickly. Do not put it with delicate plants as it's a bully.
Plants
(PlantFiles)

Hosta plantaginea

Species Iris
Iris

tall bearded iris, ( not a species) grape smell, great variagation

More special. One fan = a trade
Plants, Roots, Tubers and Bulbs
(PlantFiles)
Standard Dwarf Bearded Iris
Iris

I was traded this plant. I am told it is the cultivar 'stitch witch' Mine blooms early with other intermediate iris not later with the tall bearded iris.
'Stitch Witch' Plants Image
(cheerpeople)
Siberian Iris
Iris sibirica

I prefer siberian iris foliage to bearded iris. It looks like a grass plume. Siberians can take a bog like soil where as bearded types rot. Fine without any extra watering too. The blooms on siberians are smaller but they both bloom a short time anyway. I have burned off the foliage in late winter and the plant lives anyway. Easy. Does best in full sun.
'Caesar's Brother' Plants, Roots, Tubers and Bulbs Image
(cheerpeople)

iris pseudacorus this is my pic. Also can be waterplant
Can go full sun to full shade. Large shovel-bending rhizomes. Flowers are yellow. Will gain size quickly. MUCH larger than bearded iris. Much bigger rhizomes too. blooms june 2 for 2 weeks here.
