Caesalpinia Species
Caesalpinia pulcherrima

These were harvested at the end of last summer from large and prolifically flowering plants around my neighborhood. In zone 8b, where I live, these die back to the roots in winter but come back in mid-spring and can reach six feet by fall. You can plant the seeds either in containers or in the ground, where you want them to grow about ½ inch deep in moist soil. Keep soil moist but do not saturate.

Lablab Species
Lablab purpureus

These were given to me by a neighbor a few weeks ago, and I believe that they were harvested this past summer. I successfully germinated three already, which I am giving to friends.

Mirabilis
Mirabilis jalapa

These were taken from a neighbor's garden at the end of summer in 2018, and she has seeds taken from those same plants at the same time that have sprouted. I don't know the cultivar name, but they are light pink and yellow. They do reseed readily, but the young plants are easy to recognize and pull.

Phaseolus Coccineus
I planted six of these just a few days ago, and they have already sent down roots. The beans themselves are large (average of two centimeters long) and are light purple with black spots. I'm very excited about seeing them grow.
