Shore Kauai. - 'Double Red' Hibiscus. Hibiscus Species Hibiscus mutabilis Seeds available. Harvested at a botanical garden on N. Shore of Oahu, Hawaii around Oct. of 2009. Germinated recently, still viable. These seeds were taken from 15' tall TREES, they have maple-like foliage and large double dark pink blossoms. High volume seed producer. | Seeds | (PlantFiles) |
Hibiscus Hibiscus syriacus Seeds available. Harvested mid 2009. Got these at a botanical garden on the N. Shore of Oahu, Hawaii. I have two different cultivar from this species. One is a pale yellow with a black 'eye' (center) which looks much like 'Hau Bush' flowers from Hawaii (search Google images), but much smaller being approx. 2" in diameter. The other was a light pink with a black center, as above. I do not currently have photos of either blossom available. Both were single petal varieties (as opposed to double). These were in a large area full of assorted Hibiscus species and cultivar, so there is always a slight chance these seeds may be a cross/hybrid, might not produce seed when mature, etc. It's luck of the draw! | Seeds | (PlantFiles) |
Hippeastrum Hybrid Hippeastrum x johnsonii Seeds available. Seed is said to not store well, these are from an '09 trade, and were harvested near the end of '08. I haven't tried to germinate any, but haven't thrown them out figuring there's always a chance, however slight, one could sprout. If you'd like to give them a go let me know, will include all of the seeds I've got (10-15?) in a trade, or as a part of / a freebie within a trade if someone would like them. | Seeds | (PlantFiles) |

Hylocereus Species Hylocereus undatus Seed available from beginning of 2010. I have seeds from the red and green skinned, purple fleshed variety. Germinated a single seed approx. 1 month ago and have a 1cm tall seedling at this time. Slow growing, but worth the wait. Will begin to produce fruit when the plants weight is approximately 10lbs.+ (as a general rule). I germinate in perlite, transfer to soil when plant shows first signs of new growth (spines and stalk forming between first set of leaves) The plant blooms and produces fruit on all islands of Hawaii, but does best on the Big Island where a large scale farm grows them for sale throughout the Islands, with two seasons per year. Four years ago one could expect to pay no more than $6.50 (including tax) on average for a large fresh fruit on the island of Kauai. Due to the economy, greed, and an increase in vog (volcanic fog), etc. on the Big Island where the fruit is grown, price has gone up closer to $10/each (including tax) in the past year! | Seeds | (PlantFiles) |
Japanese Morning Glory Ipomoea Seeds available. Unknown species/cultivar. Leftover from a trade, seeds were tested germinated March 2010 and sprouted, so seed is still viable. About 50 'Dark Purple MG' and 50 'Dark Pink MG' seeds available. | Seeds | (PlantFiles) |
Ipomoea Species Ipomoea obscura Small number of seeds available. | Seeds | (PlantFiles) |
Lettuce Lactuca sativa Seeds available. Your everyday common Romaine. | Seeds | (PlantFiles) |
Leonotis Species Leonotis leonurus Seeds available. Produces seeds by the hundreds, not much fun to harvest though, those dried pods are deadly (not literally) ! I'd recommend BAGGING the seed heads, don't try to cut and harvest the seeds by hand. I placed the cut pods in a ziploc bag and shook them vigorously, spun them holding the stem, etc. to spin/shake all of the seeds from the pods. | Seeds | (PlantFiles) |
Lunaria Species Lunaria annua Seeds available. | Seeds | (PlantFiles) |
