Common Moonseed
Menispermum canadense

This native plant was brought to my garden by birds and has made a home for itself for many years now- It looks spectacular growing up a simple three stick trellis and does very well in part sun to shade in average to moist soil. The leaves are virtually flat and dark green. It does volunteer, but is very easy to control. It never looks distressed, even in extreme weather. The volunteers are readily available to anyone who would like them.

Rubus (Rubacer) Rubus odoratus
AKA Purple flowering raspberry. Fantastic native perennial for bees in sun to shade. It gets about 3 ft high, and 4 ft wide. Large pink flowers are covered with bees for months. Likes slightly acidic soil < 6.8, not bothered by pests or disease. The berries don't taste like much (to humans) but eaten by birds. Tends to sucker and spread a bit, but easy to pull out 'volunteers'.
