Hibiscus
Hibiscus syriacus

I have lots of these in various sizes on our historical 150+ year old home site here in Alabama. We just moved here, so I am not sure what color they are, yet! There was a huge one around 20 feet? tall that had fallen over on it's side at the front of our property and I am guessing these have popped up from that parent plant? Anyway, I am happy to share, they vary in size from 6" to 2' and after this year I will gather seed:)! We have moved and so I have some new plants/bulbs that I have not identified, yet and at the same time had to temporarily pull some of my old stand by plants while I wait for them to grow to divide again. But, plenty of these Heirloom Rose of Sharons:)! I can hardly wait to see what color they are:)!

Nandina Species
Nandina domestica

Our property was settled somewhere around the mid 1800's and it has Nandina's planted in a few spots, one at the right corner, several across the right front of our cottage and one by the rail out front by Dad's. From the looks of it right where they were planted however many long years ago. I have always had one somewhere in my garden and have always found them easy to care for. They were on my Grandparent's property and she kept the same one in the same spot and unless someone has moved it it is probably still there, about 3' tall. I never noticed birds stripping her berries and mine are untouched here. These are beautiful bushes and I have no problems trimming them to stay very small if wanted. The florist use the beautiful glossy green foliage and berries that are bright red and beautiful during the winter.

Vinca Species
Vinca minor

Been out of the loop due to health for last year and lost a few things with a freeze, flood and move, but finding new plants here where we have just moved to our hopefully final home here in Alabama, near family:)! It is an historical 150+ year old cottage that was built for return visitors to the old Jackson House 400 room Hotel built back in the 1850's along with the Mountain House Hotel on Duffee Mountain, part of the widely advertised healing Blount Springs, Al sulfur mineral spring water attraction of the time. The cottages were terraced and landscaped and I am so excited to see what old time plants I find this spring on the property around our little cottage:)! It has been too cold to do much investigating, but there are mystery bulbs popping up already and this tiny vining plant with it's cheerful blue flowers (there was one I couldn't believe was blooming last week (end of December) on the West side of the house near the foundation) are all around, helping hold the dirt to the Mountain side, I believe:). This could be a wild child which could be a good thing if you live on a steep slope or want ground cover in a shady spot under a tree or want an easy, shiny, evergreen (here in Hayden, Al) vining ground cover that stays low and has sweet blue flowers:)! I love it:)! So, plenty of these to share while waiting on my old faithfuls I have been carrying around to multiply:)!
