Looking for a sci-fi book title

I had a book awhile ago about an alien invasion of Earth. There was a family group that vowed to stop it. They built a compound that they lived in and barricaded themselves inside. They did some trading with the aliens but still hated them. Years went by during the course of the story. At the end of the story, they hadn't stopped the invasion, just adjusted to life with the aliens.

I would really like to find this book again. I usually keep the ones I like but I must have done something with it. LOL
