Has anyone tried the several receipes that are on the web for home made bug spray?
This is one as an example;
1 garlic bulb, chopped or ground
1 quart water
1 small onion, chopped or ground
1 tablespoon liquid soap detergent
1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
Mix all together except for the liquid soap. Add that and gently stir so as to avoid tons of bubbles. Store in fridge and use when needed. Should keep up to a month or so, maybe longer
Do they work?
I hate spending money on stuff if I could make it myself.
I would be interested in anybody experence in this area.

Home made bug killer
Never tried it. I know just putting jap beetles in soapy water kills them.
We use one i found...
soak some tobacco in water overnight, strain and put in a few drops of dish soap...spray...works pretty good.
And people still smoke!
hehehe...well, I'm trying to quit. The morning is the hardest...sitting here at the 'puter with my coffee...I reach for one and have it lit before I even know what I've done.
Wouldn't that cost WAY more than bug killer? Tobacco is kinda expensive, no?
no...you can use somebody's old butts too.
"Old Butt Bug Killer" that's funny.
You can also use old butts to sit on them and squash them.
Butts usually spread when you sit on them ...
Sorry couldn't help myself :-)
hehehehe
I just see somebody down at the old folks home trying to put some old butts in the jar!

"Old Butt Bug Killer": I "smell" marketing potential !!!
postscript: I was refering to tabacco smell, of course...of course...of course!
Being a fairly heavy cigar smoker ,I put my butts to use I save them all and discard them all around the property after two years of this I have not had one slug this year and we used to be over run with them .My Hosta are so pleased.
