Love that color contrast in #6!

Orange, CA

All are beautiful TomTom -- inspiring me to do some work in the garden. The garden is sadly neglected since I had a few health glitches this year - nothing serious but enough to kick me out of the yard. Thanks for sharing.

Concord, CA(Zone 9a)

Beautiful! Wish I had your talent.

Tomtom: Thanks to you, I have to say that I've learned to be so much more delicate with my plantings. We share similar plants but you also have some that I really would love that don't grow in my zone. I've learned a lot from you and your photo's...When I finished this planting, I though about you!

Thank you so much for your inspiration...

Very pretty!

Port Charlotte, FL(Zone 10a)

Tomtom...I love the lobelia also and every year I plant some. Unfortunately as soon as the humidity comes...they disappear. Same with the delphiniums!

tomtom & katg, thanks for the inspiration!!! I think I need to jam more things in my containers to make them pop.

Wow! Beautiful containers.

Wingate, MD(Zone 7b)

TomTom...What is the blue flower in #6 and #9? Your containers are beautiful. I hope to make mine just half as good.

Peg

Phoenix, AZ

Peg,
The deep blue flower is lobelia. A favorite of Tomtom's. Quite vivid, isn't it!

Delray Beach, FL(Zone 10b)

I love your containers!

Wingate, MD(Zone 7b)

Aguane...Thanks for the answer. I loved the bright blue color. I stopped at the local fruitstand after your reply and was lucky enough to get a basket of the Regatta Midnight Blue lobelia mixed with Nemesia lavender, Verbena cherry red and Blue Dart Juncus inflexus. What a nice surprise for me.

Thanks....Peg

Tomtom, beautiful containers, love the white and blue. I have a new favorite flower, I am going to have to go find lobelia. Really like white flowers.

OSAKA, Japan(Zone 9b)

Thank you all for your compliments.

KatG, Your container is wonderful. I love Delphinium and Lobelia too.
Regrettably they can't keep blooming long in my zone either.

Aguane,
Thank you for your help. Yes that 's Lobelia exactly.

Chesapeake,

Mine is Lobelia ' Midnight Blue' and what you got is exactly the same.
The color is fantastic !!

Hello Tomtom!
Love your creations. You're an inspiration and very pleasing to watch!
RE pic #12. Tulip and viola.... the background plant... Is that Creeping Wire Vine? If so, I just love that plant! I recently saw it in a topiary.... very nice.

(Lynn) Paris, TX(Zone 7b)

Beautiful containers, Tomtom. I love lobelia, it's a color you can't get from any other plant, but it won't be long until mine is fried. Here's part of my planter-world

Hi Aguane,
yes it is Creeping Wire Vine. We call it `Wire Plant ' here.
How nice to make a topiary of it!
What figure was it ?

lrwells50,
all your containers are gorgeous.
I believe we share the same taste.

Your photos are all so inspirational everyone!

I tried growing most of my annuals from seed indoors this year. Here are a couple of pics. All the seeds were from Swallowtail Gardens, except for the lobelia - I bought that seed off a rack at Home Depot. The red petunias are Ramblin Red Petunias, the verbena are Tuscany violet, and orchid frost. The bacopa is snowtopia and blutopia. The petunias are pink wave petunias. And, I bought a purple calibrachoa plant (I wish I could get seeds!). TomTom's lobelia is so gorgeous that I'm almost embarrassed to post these . . .

Here's a closer pic of my ramblin reds - I can't believe they started from itty bitty seeds.

Here's some lobelia (from seed) with some yellow calibrachoa (bought plant at nursery)

TomTom,
That white and blue photo is just out of this world! What cultivar digitalis is that? And what are the white flowers that you have planted with your lobelia? And how do you get it to grow in such a beautiful sphere shape? I'm in awe of your photos.

Phoenix, AZ

Tomtom,
The Creeping Wire Vine topiaries I saw were in the shapes of spheres grown up common standards and also several heart shaped.

The "wire" was wrapped around a stick (bamboo?) then encouraged to cover the sphere (straw?)
