In the winter, the top half of my 5' evergreen turns brown. I love my tree and want to help it. Does anyone have any ideas what causes this? It is greening up now that it is Spring but it takes a bit. Thanks, Leann
Weeping Blue Atlas Cedar turns brown in winter
You are located pretty far north for this species. I'd venture to say that dessicating winter winds are causing the browning. Unless you can reduce that influence (or move someplace warmer) then you will probably experience this effect annually.
Ditto to VV. Atlas Cedar is only fully reliable in zones 8-9, marginal in zone 7 with mortality risk in severe winters.

Thanks. It is a fighter. It does green back up but I feel so bad for the guy. I will re-evaluate its locale to see if I can make him a little happier. Thanks again, Leann
Bizzie, have you tried Wilt-Pruf? It keeps leaves/needles from drying out and browning.
