last one - i went right to google to see if otters where carnivorous - turns out they are and will go 10 miles a night for a meal - this guy only went 1.5 miles - assuming it came up from the nashua river

Good grief and I saw a cat catch a mole and saw the dead carcuss this morning and lost my liquid breakfast. I would go senile watching that.

I braved the drizzle to get this pic, this popped open today. I thought it was going to be black eyed stella so now I have no idea.

Never bother a mother whatever with kids.

Flowerjen, I think I know what daylily that is, but can't recall the name at the moment.

That's interesting about the otter. I never knew they would go after a muskrat. I just thought they ate small stuff, like frogs, crayfish, fish, etc. That muskrat looks as big or bigger than that otter. Are you sure it's not a mink? I read the river otters are 3-4 ft. long and weigh in at 44-82 lbs. Muskrats are 16-24 inches and weigh only 1.5-4 lbs. On the other hand, mink get 18-30 inches and weigh up to 7 lbs. Mink and otters are members of the same family that includes ferrets, weasels, wolverine and badgers.

Great pics of your recent blooms, Patti!

Here are some pics I took in my gardens just tonight.

Hosta 'Summer Music'

This is a hosta that I bought from an eBay seller some years ago. It was supposed to be 'Blue Moon', but is not even close to blue. I think it could possibly be 'August Moon'. Anyone have a clue? Perhaps I should post on the hosta forum to get a possible ID, though IDing a hosta can be like IDing a daylily. There are so many different varieties, and many look quite similar.

Bill, that does sound like a Wow to me, too. There is a nursery in Holbrook, MA called Cochato Nursery. He has tons of hostas, too, and gorgeous display gardens with ponds and Koi and such. So many different kinds of plants, not just hostas. I have a ton of pics I took there last summer, and perhaps on of these days I will post a thread of my pics from there, if I can ever find the time.

Now for more pics.

Here is a tiny Hosta called 'Saishu Jima'.
