Garden Photos of '09.....#22
On my way home from church, I stopped pretty quickly when I saw a neighbor on the street behind me out in her garden. She has a very striking orangey shrubby plant, so I asked her what it was. She said she couldn't remember, but it was the same as another one - different color- which happened to be a broom. The orangey color is flame-like. She also has a baptisia which is quite gorgeous, and she is going to give me some. When would be the best time to divide it? Fall or spring?
I would do it in fall.
Great news!! Thanks
As a general rule, earlier blooming plants should be divided in fall and late bloomers in spring or after flowering.
Great pics, Victor.
thanx
Any time! Thanks jumper.
Victor - all of those blue blooms are so pretty! I tried baptisia, but it didn't do well. I really like it. Could your mystery bi-color clem be Nelly Moser? I'm not sure, but it looks like it could be?
Not sure, Louise. I have no record of buying that one.
Too much to catch up with---some very lovely plants! I'm drooling over all the iris---loved that maroon one Shelley---is it a spuria? Victor, your clems are super---could the purple one be 'Harlow Carr'? Mine didn't come back this year. Thom, loved that 'First Frost' hosta---my clems are just opening---here's 'Marie Jensen'.
great pics just beautifull flowers
Victor your blue clem looks like one I have - I ordered 3 Durandi, and I think I got 2 Durandi and one NOID. The flowers look the same, but the leaves look different than Durandi.
And I was wondering why my Crystal Fountain was looking more pink than purple, but yours does too.
it maybe the soil I find that will purchase two of the same plant or devide a plant and depending where I plant it the amount of sun and the soil content can have an affect on flower color
Yes, I figured it was probably not the best soil.
Clems are notorious for color variation, Deb.
I had two of the henrii side by side to cover an ugly fence and I could see a veriation in the blooms so I would not worry about it just enjoy them
I buy them at the end of the year with no tags and plant them and wait to see what I got lol since it doesnt matter I love them all
