I live in augusta, ga and have been wanting to plant some astrantias for forever. Problem is, there is so much conflicting info as to whether they will do well in my area. Would appreciate if anyone coulkd let me know how they stand up to the heat and humidity we have here. Thanks- Paula
anyone growing astrantia>
lybzephyr,
I don't know the specifics about your question. But I would say if your really want to give a plant a try then go for it! Nothing ventured nothing gained.
Have fun.
Helen
They like moist, humus-rich, well drain soil in sun or part shade. Don't let them become dry or they may not flower. The are good to go in zones 4-9.
theres a couple good nurseries here in augusta that probably could answer your question as if they do good here. also know they do like water. i dont have a water source to plant them by or i would have them.

coldcreek in aiken and nurseries carolinianna in north augusta
I have them in a shaded bed with some species lilies -- so far they're doing well. I started mine from seed (I think from Thompson and Morgan). They do like to stay well-watered.
