Bought this Iris from a grower near Petaluma, CA. It's been in my Illinois garden for several years. Can someone identify it for me?

I have a similar one which is unknown to me as well. Unfortunately, it is nearly impossible to identify an iris that has lost its name tag. Perhaps some hybridizers who have been in the business a long time, but we run into this problem frequently and our AIS local shows. Lots of us have unknown irises -- so many that we have created a special award for best unknown iris.
