I have a mustang grape vine around myy garden and I noticed these growths on it does anybodys know what they are? Thanks!

Could somebody tell me what this is?
They are galls that are formed when a tiny insect lays an egg. The plant's response is to surround the egg...

Thanks! I had forgotten all about posting this thread. That is really interesting I've never seen them on the grape leave before. A late freeze wiped out all the grapes so that's what I got instead.
