"Tippy Pots/Stacked Pots" QUESTIONS

Hi Everyone!

I am new to DG and have been IN LOVE with the Tippy Pots I've been seeing on this Garden Art forum. I would love to make my own this weekend and have a few questions:

1) What size pots did many of you use?
2) How long of a piece of rebar should I get?
3) If I want to place the piece on my deck and not stake it into the ground, will filling the bottom pot with rocks be enough weight to support the entire totem?
