? Enriched Peat Moss

I've just started making hypertufa stones and rocks using portland cement, peat moss, and perlite. I recently read to not use peat moss with fertilizer. Does anyone know why not? I like the smaller bags...easier to handle, but the bag notes that the peat moss is not as dry and has no large lumps. Will this be a problem with my projects? Thanks sab
