Is this an invasive variety? A seller's description of it called it "tame". Basically I love the idea of it's screen for my backyard but I would have other plantings around it so can't afford to have it turn the yard into a forest....

Bamboo (Giant Timber)
Bambusa is a clumping bamboo, which means it won't spread out of control like the running bamboos will.
That is the assumption I was making but was told I should make certain :) thank-you. One can't be to careful!
Yes, definitely pays to doublecheck when it comes to bamboo!
Wondering now if this bamboo though tall and narrow, I wonder it will make the yard to shaded for vegetables? House faces west, has no shade in the back now from anything, no neighbors have trees even close to overcasting shade. Lot is deep and sunny.
Any thoughts?
It'll create some shade in the area around it (how much depends on where the sun is coming from at what time of day), but if your lot isn't super tiny I don't see how it would put so much of it in shade that it wouldn't leave you plenty of places that you could grow veggies.
