I have only been growing irises for a couple of years, but I have never seen one like this. It is kind of hard to tell from picture, but if you look closely there are only two Standards and two Falls. This is the first year that this plant has bloomed but all the other blooms are normal and I have deadheaded the very first bloom. Does this happen often and if so is there a name for it ?

Hi Taj, I would suspect that it was injured during it's bud production. Frost, physical injury or insects. Since the other flowers are normal, this plant is not a sport.

Agree, cold damage. Do you prefer fewer flower parts, or too many, works both ways.
