Saw this beauty driving down a road in Berkeley, California.
Look familiar to anyone?
I don't know but is very beautiful.
That's a wonderful specimen of 'Mrs. G. W. Leak' I believe!
I agree... I think that it's a variety that's been available for quite a while!!
My gosh, I would love to know how old that plant is!!

I do beleive you are right. Someone else emailed me and in checking pictures, it is identical to some of them on google. Thank you!
Kell
there are many many Rhody's that look alike
for instance it is also similar to http://oregonstate.edu/dept/ldplants/rhmfu1.htm
there is an Azalea park in Brookings, Oregon with plants that are over a 100 years old

Fancy meeting you here Dick. I looked closely at Mrs. Furnival also but mine is quite different.
Mrs. Furnival is generally a hair more pink around the outside of the florets than Mrs. G W Leak. That's why I lean towards Mrs. G W Leak.
i agree it is more similar to Mrs. G W Leak http://oregonstate.edu/dept/ldplants/rhmgw5.htm
just wanted to say it could also be one of several that look like this
the size is awesome, probably pre-war and over 60 years old
