That's a wonderful specimen of 'Mrs. G. W. Leak' I believe!

I agree... I think that it's a variety that's been available for quite a while!!
My gosh, I would love to know how old that plant is!!

there are many many Rhody's that look alike
for instance it is also similar to http://oregonstate.edu/dept/ldplants/rhmfu1.htm
there is an Azalea park in Brookings, Oregon with plants that are over a 100 years old

Fancy meeting you here Dick. I looked closely at Mrs. Furnival also but mine is quite different.

Mrs. Furnival is generally a hair more pink around the outside of the florets than Mrs. G W Leak. That's why I lean towards Mrs. G W Leak.

just wanted to say it could also be one of several that look like this
the size is awesome, probably pre-war and over 60 years old
