My zebra grass (Miscanthus sinensis 'Zebrinus) hasn't shown any sign of life yet. I cut it back weeks ago, still looks like a bunch of straw.
I thought it might be because the ground hasn't
warmed up enough yet but it has sent out little shoots about 5" from the original plant. What should I look for?
Zone 5a -Zebra grass help
Miscanthus tends to break dormancy quite late, so give it a little more time. Clumps also tend to expand out in a circle, as the center becomes congested and exhausted. I hope you have allowed it space to spread!
Thanks, June. I was just getting impatient, it's finally starting to show some small signs of life. I'll make sure it has lots of room to spread.
I'm glad your's lived. I had a healthy one that didn't make the winter a few years ago. In my ornamental grass book, it says zone 6. I'm trying again with Little Nicky this year.
