Anyone tried staining concrete statues?

Hello! I have a few concrete statues I would like to stain with concrete stain. I have never used it before - has anyone tried it with statues? My husband says the color would probably be very inconsistent, but some inconsistency would look good I think - kind of giving it an aged look.
