Here is a collage of irises currently blooming. Can anyone ID? Bonjon?
These irises do have purple at the base of the fans.
More iris ID's, please
#3 is definitely a pallida or pallida cross with those floppy leaves. Does it smell like grape koolaid?
Pollyk: Yes; it does smell like grape Koolaid.
all these are, by flower form, historics. have you tried looking through the HIPS (Historical Iris Preservation Society) website at their photos?
as much as l love the look and scent of the old irises, it's the modern ones that have my heart. am just barely learning the old ones.
I'll try that, Bonjon. TY.
Angie
Angie, then I would say it's definitely pallida. There are some named varieties of pallida, but you'll never identify one of them. Just call it pallida.
I have no clue on the other ones.
TY, Pollyk, for your help on the blue one. I inherited some of these from family and some from a previous house owner, so I know they are old ones.
Angie
well, polly, you are the expert on these, or at least know more about them.
what is wanda's DG handle? we should ask her. I can't remember what it was.
I don't know anything about bearded, Bonjon. I just happen to really, really love pallidas, LOL.
