Shipping bulbs now

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

I want to ship several bulbs this week and wondered about cutting off the foliage. They are going to a warm area and will probably send up more leaves promptly but I thought I would ask the experts first. All have finished blooming.

I would ship with foliage and roots in moist (not wet) sphagnum moss.
Place the sphagnum in a ziplock bag, moisten, put bulb and roots inside, tape around the neck.
Priority Mail only!
Too long in the shipping box could damage them.
Ask the recipient to pot immediately and place out of direct sunlight for a while.
They can also stake the foliage until the plant re-establishes.

Thanks Liz, that is pretty much what I wound up doing. I also looked for the later blooming bulbs which had little if any foliage yet.

I used the ziplock veggie bags (I order them online) because they "breathe" without leaking - much.
