I made a fountain out of an industrial dough hook, some aluminum conduit, hose clamps and chain. Got the dough hook at the junkyard, and the rest of the parts were just stuff we had lying around. (except for the pump) The hook sits on a false bottom which is an old grill from a barbecue, then rocks are piled around it.
The water runs up through the conduit and down the chain- the sound is really nice. :)
