Beardless 2009

Lebanon, OR

Hi Polly, Boojum, Pirl and all the other lovers of beardless as well as bearded, both of the other topics had gotten so long I decided I would jump in with one for 2009

What is in the full gloria right now was labelled Iris Tectorum, but feel it is Iris Japonica and still I have thrilled.

No other beardless in bloom yet, but the medians are going NUTS right now, as Have about 75 different varities in bloom I think

Your Iris Japonica is lovely. I have very few beardless ones, but just received 2 Pseudatas in the mail today. I ordered Shirabyashi from Draycott's and they sent Ryugan as a bonus. Both have at least 6-7 rhizomes and lots of nice roots. I am thinking about digging a hole and lining it with plastic to make a mini blog for them since it can get very dry here in the summer. Do you think they would do OK in those conditions?

The week before Christmas I planted a JI in compost just to see how much it would enjoy the luxury of spending winter someplace cozy.

I'm curious to see the roots on it when I dig it up.
