Sell your "junk", make some cash!

Houston, United States(Zone 9b)

Passing this info along that I read in my Parenting magazine, May 2009 issue:

Quoting:
Clean Sweep

"I had more than a few old cell phones and gadgets gathering dust on a shelf when I heard about gazelle.com," says Krista [editorial asst]. "This awesome new site buys no-longer-wanted electronics and then either reuses or responsibly recycles them. The progess was easy, and if you can believe it, I snagged $166! I cut clutter without adding to a landfill somewhere."

But be forewarned, I've no idea how many gadgets she had but I entered in for a razor phone I'm replacing and I was only offered 11 bucks for it, granted they pay the shipping and even provide the box!

OR, you can mail your cell phone to a group called "Cell Phones for Soldiers" (I received a free plastic envelop in which to mail them my cell phone and it says on it:
Quoting:
"Since 2004, teens Brittany and Robbie Berquist and Cell Phones for Soldiers have raised millions of dollars to help our troops call home. Proceeds from donated cell phones are used to purchase prepaid calling cards for American troops."

You'd want to contact them for an envelope. Now I did mail them one of ours, and if you can get a real tax deductible receipt from them the savings "earned" might be worth more as a tax deduction than selling it to the above. They do offer a receipt online you can print for tax purposes. http://www.cellphonesforsoldiers.com/media_docs/CPFS_Donation_Receipt.pdf
