Another year of Echinacea. I'll protect them from slugs as they push through the ground, but probably only so the dog can eat them later when in full leaf. I nearly bought him Echinacea tablets to get him through the winter. I love the flowers but I love the dog too. They're the only thing in the garden apart from Calamagrostis x acutiflora that he really likes to eat, so I guess I just needs to look at Echinaceas in other people's gardens. Anybody else have this problem?

i read in another thread about the 'little bed of horrors'. one takes a pack of 100 count wooden skewers and sticks them in the ground near the plants.
i also read about sticking or laying berry canes (the thorny kind) in the bed.
I have not tried either method but from what i read, they seem to work for the folks that posted them.
my dog only eats the spices I plant he loves parsley and basil lol
