The 5.8% increase this year was nice, but maybe we'd better save rather than spend it. The Congressional Budget Office is projecting that the recession will wipe out SS adjustments for the next three years. Declining inflation is expected to cause overall prices to drop slightly - about 0.7 percent - but the decreases may not be in categories we use. Time to plan ahead!
